PRE-ARRANGEMENT:
The Thoughtful Decision

Today, more people are recognizing that planning a funeral in advance of need demonstrates love and consideration toward their family members. It is a thoughtful decision that reduces the stress of indecision and uncertainty when death occurs.

Reasons to consider Pre-Planning

Preplanning provides peace of mind for everyone involved. A carefully preplanned ceremony can be very comforting to your family, as it spares them from facing hard decisions that can be both emotionally and financially difficult at the time of death. Thus more and more people are pre-planning funerals and making pre-arrangements with their local funeral director. It can give your family members lasting peace of mind to know they have acted according to your wishes.

Why do people pre-arrange a funeral service for themselves or a family member ?

There are many good reasons. Some plan ahead because there will be no one who is capable of making responsible decisions. Others have definite preferences concerning their funeral service, and they want their families to be informed and involved in those decisions.

Many people pre-arrange because they like the peace of mind knowing there will be adequate funds to cover funeral expenses. Also pre-payment can provide real benefits when you are applying for Medicaid in the United States. Most importantly, pre-arrangement guarantees that rational decisions can be made ahead of time without the usual urgencies when a death has taken place.

Pre-Planning is a growing trend in our society today. Preplanning funeral services started in earnest about 12 years ago and has grown significantly since. In fact, current statistics show that one (1) out of two (2) services will be preplanned by 2005.

Why this enormous trend?

Pre-Planning relieves families from difficult responsibilities at an already stressful and emotional time. It allows a person to gather the information needed at the time of loss and make decisions on services and selections desired before the need arises. There are 90 + questions that need to be answered and decisions which need to be made within the first 24 - 48 hours of a death. When these major decisions have been previously made by pre-planning, family members need only to verify information. This is a less stressful process for families and we witness this convenience every day.

Making pre-arrangements can be as simple or as involved as you wish. You can make a selection of the services, casket, music, and etc. or simply give only the biographical information that will be needed for notification of newspapers, legal forms, etc.
Although not required when making pre-arrangements, most people choose to set aside funds or insurance that will cover their future funeral expenses. One of our directors can meet with you to explain the various programs we offer and answer any questions.

Once your pre-arrangements are made and on file, when the time of need arises, a call to Davis-Weaver Funeral Home will enable us to proceed with what you have planned.
