John Wesley Snyder, age 94, of Clarksburg, WV, went peacefully
to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Clarksburg
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 13, 1918
in Richwood, WV, a son to the late George F. Snyder ans Cora
(Loar) Snyder.
He is survived by three sons & daughter-in-laws, William “Bill”
and Drema Snyder of Clarksburg, WV, Donald and Francie
Snyder of Bridgeport, WV, John Paul Snyder of Clarksburg,
WV; a daughter, Sharon Snyder of San Diego, CA; two grandsons,
David Snyder of San Diego, CA and Justin Snyder of Lumberport,
WV; three granddaughters, Annette Esparza, San Diego, Rebecca
Pomeroy of Bridgeport, WV and Megan Wilson of Clarksburg, WV;
twelve great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; a sister,
Ruth Flanagan of Bridgeport, WV; and several special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife of 61 years,
Elsie Snyder; a grandson, William G. Snyder II; three brothers and three
sisters.
Mr. Snyder was a member of the C. M. A. Church in Stonewood,
where he was a Elder. He was a master mason with membership in
Herman Lodge #6 A.F. & A. M, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite
Mason. John was a volunteer for five years for the Harrison County
E.M.S., past fire chief for Summit Park Volunteer Fire Department.
After his retirement from Stroehman, he worked for Nutter
Fort Foodland.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home,
329 East Main St., Clarksburg on Monday from 3:00 – 8:00
PM, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 22,
2012 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Jerome Lewis presiding. A
Masonic graveside rites will be accorded by Herman Lodge #6
A. F. & A. M. Masons will meet at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home
at 12:30 PM Tuesday to do the masonic graveside rites. Interment
will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
